Normative Narrative
In college, this is the work I completed for my studio art independent study. I was not a studio art major and the galleries on campus were usually reserved for those students. However, my teacher was very proud of my work over junior and senior year that she booked a gallery for me for 3 days. I still can’t believe I got this chance. Normative Narrative
As seen in mainstream media, especially with the recent surge of Marvel and DC comic book adaptations to the big screen, heroes are becoming greater idols for each of us every day. Whether they reach us on an emotional or metaphysical level, they help define for us what it means to stand out and stand proud for what we personally believe in.
Over the past two years I have worked on this art project which encompasses my interests and imaginative scenarios. A myriad of past experiences, and personal fantasies come together in my work to convey a masculinized story through the art of the graphic novel.
